We recently were asked by Seriti Mining to come out and spend a couple days there covering a lifestyle and portrait approach, documenting the procedures and workings on the mines. So 5;30am induction done, safety boots on, hard hats ready, we went in while the sun was just breaking in and the sky was a beautiful pinky colour. The sheer size of every machine on site is mind blowing, while crunching numbers, how much coal is dug up, how much earth each truck can hold and take back and forth you suddenly you forget why you were here in the first place! The brief was simple, capture natural images that best depicting, describe and show case the mining industry and what Seriti represents and stands for. Most shoots require early starts, but nothing beats getting stuck in there and getting the most out of your day and light that you have. These guys put in some really long hours and I have selected a few images that I thought best described work on the mines.
